Today we got up and got ready to go out and try snorkeling in a new location. We had driven past some places yesterday that looked great and Paul checked the guide book and they weren’t in there so we didn’t go back. We tried some that were suggested. The first one was inaccessible because the road that went to it was closed. The second one was looking pretty rough and choppy. We hung out for a while and when the sun came out Paul went in. He looked like he was just bobbing around out in the surf. When he came back I asked how it was (trying to decide if I was willing to get wet or not) and he said it was really bad. It was so rough that he couldn’t see much and he kept getting tossed around. We decided to just go back to our own beach and sit in the lounge chairs. We ordered more drinks and then decided to try snorkeling right in front of our hotel. We were told that if we went out past the break that there were tons of fish. Paul went in first and then I joined him. It was hilarious. Once we got out past the sand bar it got very shallow (like barely two feet deep) and very rocky/coral-y. We would get slammed by a wave and hit the rocks. Paul has some nice scratches on his calf and I got some on my knee.

The waves were large and strong and the surf just kept slamming us. We gave up and went in closer to the sand bar and then Paul’s underwater camera started crapping out so we went in. Somehow it got water in the parts that aren’t supposed to get water in them. We are really hoping that it works since we haven’t even gone on our snorkeling excursion. Once we had given up on snorkeling it was time to eat. We headed back down to Lahaina for lunch. We got Chicago style pizza and it was awesome. The place we ate was on the second floor and we got to eat out on the balcony. The view was amazing.
After that it looked like the wind has died and we decided to snorkel again. Once we got dressed and ready things had changed again. We went back to where we were yesterday and in we went. We saw the turtle again and this time Paul touched it. Then a little while later we saw a second one. Seeing the two together was so awesome. I was really sad the camera wasn’t working. I would love to have had a photo of them together. I was getting cold and so I came in and Paul stayed out a while longer. When he was done we came back and got ready to go to dinner. Paul took this on our way to dinner.

We went to Lailani’s for dinner and I ordered fish and chips! We are being so adventurous. I have now had mahi mahi and ono. I liked both. I got this shot of Paul at dinner and really liked it so I threw it in here.
